WHY always Music with Accordeons?

Alright. Here`s what`s about to follow: a precise and detailed, sharp-witted and humorous view on the Colombians themselves. What is the average Columbian? What does he think, how does he grow up and what makes him become what he is?
Answer: I have no idea.
I`ve spent nearly a month in this huge country including staying in a Columbian Home with Yesenita, her daughter and pretty much whoever happened to drop by and I still just can't figure them out.
Columbian service is non-existent. They never smile at you when you approach. It happened that we waited like 2 hours in a restaurant at the beach. My theory ist: the waiter took our orders, went to go and have a swim, maybe smoke a joint, after that he slowly walked in the direction of the kitchen where the cook would have a chat with the neighbours about this and that and then he would tell the cook what we wanted, of course forgetting at least one of the orders and about half an hour later she would start cooking. Maybe after that they would let the food sit around another bit, just for good measure because after all, we all have time and are on holidays, right?

On the other side: the people are so nice, always always friendly and interested in you, always keen to help and up for joking all the time.
The down side in being a gringo is: they always assume you are rich. Haha, I wish. Well, compared to them we are. It's worlds betweens incomes here and there but still...it follows naturally that they always want to give you the gringo price (you never know) or just tell you a totally different thing than before and of course your spanish is good but not-so-good and you can't really get into an argument about it.
And then of course there is the phenomenon SALSA. Here, it rarely happens that people dance without a partner. The hip movement involved gives me the impression of being a dancing broom when I try to do the same. You know, in europe (and pretty much everyone else) we dance like in a circle of friends, with a bottle of beer in your hand and it's considered totally fine to be a moving jerk not doing anything but shifting your left  foot to right foot. Here: nope. Sorry. You'll find yourself gaping with open jaw at how they define 'dancing' and it just looks so awesome, plus: so many girls wear HIGH HEELS doing it and they make it look like it's the easiest thing in the world.

Last but not least: what the fuck is it with accordeon music? And when they don't hear accordeon music it's classic music. It's nice, don't get me wrong. But sometimes, only sometimes, I wish they would consider changing a little bit, please, but hey, guess you can't get everything when you're already in a country as various and fascinating as this.
