Italian Coast

Bonjour everyone! In Germany we have a proverb saying "living like God in France." And yes, that's true, french people really know how to enjoy life! Eating baguette and cheese, drinking wine and sunshine all year round seems to make life a lot nicer :)

So first we went to Nice, which was...nice (hrhr)

Nice beach (no pun intended :D)

Also went to Monaco and Monte Carlo for a day trip. But really, it's not half as much fun as it could be if you went to the big Casino and they actually let you in. The way we looked they would've kicked us out straight away. So we ended up just wandering about for a bit and looking at expensive houses and expensive cars with expensive looking people in it which was okay and cool to say we've been there (it's the second smallest state on earth!) but then we happily returned to our hostel to cook our noodles.
Afterwards we did Couchsurfing in Aix-en-Provence and set up for a day to find Lavender fields which we did find but there wasn't any lavender any more. Instead, we found the nicest bakery eveeeeeeeeeeeer...

Moustiers Sainte Marie

Marseille was the next stop on our way where we met up with an old friend. But honestly, Marseille is just shit after the nice little french villages that we were in before...

...went to the Feriá in Nimes and saw Bullfighting...
...yes it is brutal and bloody and very very primeval but it was cool to have seen it. Such a fascinating tradition, but so repulsing at the same time...

...Atlantic coast near Bordeaux to meet another old friend...

...Annika :) She lives in this awesome house with a cat and a guy who has a huge wine cellar and a british girl now doing Erasmus.

.... oh jup and this is the view from the best hostel that we stayed in ever. It's so close to the sea you can hear the waves from your bed. But I'll never tell you where it is. It's our secret spot...

...and now only two more days left until our flight leaves to Madrid!
My resumé of France is so far: great people, sooooooo open and friendly and always helpful! We've made a lot of friends along the way, from the hostel cook to family dads to other backpackers. We saw a lot of French Snails get murdered and eaten but not a single frog leg, drank litres of wine, had a lot of first times (second smallest state, bullfighting, do a real french wine tasting) and just had a real NICE time! :D
