Espana and Portugal
Alright, let me create an image in your head.
Imagine you´re standing at a viewpoint at 2700m altitude, underneath you are mountains glistening in the sun as far as the eye can see. You feel the wind in your hair and the sunshine on your face. Then you get on your bike and start rolling down the mountains, you pick up speed the further you roll and you don´t have to do anything but admire the view and feel happy about being in the exact spot where you are at that minute.
That´s what we did in Granada, southern Spain, in the Sierra Nevada, and it was incredible!
We couchsurfed at an Indian guys place who cooked delicious indian food for us and made us watch bollywood movies all the time and he was the one who gave us the bikes for the day and made this possible for us.
Granada itself is very beautiful, too, as is Seville where we went afterwards. They both have the mixture of arabian and christian influence that is found everywhere in the city´s architecture that is so typical of this region. That is to say: marroccan style hamams, the Alhambra (third most visited place in europe!), the Alcazar, all very very beautiful castles.
In Seville we stayed in a Hostel for a change, where we had the best crew ever. I believe our pubcrawl was a bit legendary (at least I liked it very much) and we did all sorts of stuff together (and I would like to mention everyone here, thanks Bonny, someone-in-your-tea-Fabian, YourHighness™, Mikey,Rosie, Andrea who makes the best Spaghetti Carbonara and the two French girls who will probs never read this)
Some place in Seville on one of the free walking tours |
After Madrid, Seville and Granada we went to Portugal (were also thinking of going to Marocco for sometime but then decided there´s just not enough time and it´s a trip for itself but it´s so close to here)
So now we´re in Lisbon, the nicest surprise on this trip! I didn´t think I´d like it that much but then we arrived the first night in our Couchsurfing place here with four guys who are in the Portugese Navy (hrhr) and half an hour we found ourselves in a taxi speeding along the highway watching the nightly Lisbon going past us...
the glittering bridge over the river Tejo,
okay this is in the day but just imagine it in the night :D |
the statue of Jesus Christ illuminated so you can see it from every corner of the city and all the nice towers and gates and stuff... so we found ourselves on a massive open air electro party with all the first year students all dressed like Harry Potter! This is appearently the school uniform here...
Well, so here we are now riding those cute little trams and eating little egg pastries and enjoying life pretty much...
yesterday we queued up for three hours to see the roman caves, the 2000 year old Lisbon under the city that is only accessible three days a year and then literally the whole town wants to see it.
So guys u´re all updated and I hope you are all well, too! Love u guys, best wishes and see u soon!
